$3.50 Coronas!

Last week we visited Las Maravillas de Mexico Restaurant on Bedford Park Blvd. and Jerome Avenue. As you can see from the picture, it looks like your typical dime-a-dozen Mexican joint complete with neon signage and a drink special poster. We've walked past the place a million times and always wanted to stop in to check it out. We're glad we did - the food was delish and the ingredients could not have been fresher. We sampled the beef nachos, quesadilla mexicanas, and sopes. Washed down with ice cold Coronas (at only $3.50 a pop!), the meal was probably the best Mexican we've ever had. As a nice bonus, they set you up with nachos and salsa while you're deciding on your order.

Another thing I should mention is that the waitress understood English, which made the whole experience much more enjoyable. I don't know a lick of Spanish, so I sometimes have a hard time communicating with the wait staff at some local spots. Lucky for me the word "Corona" is universally understood!

So if you ever find yourself early for class at Lehman College or hoofing it from the D or 4 trains down to the Botanical Gardens or Fordham University, stop into Las Maravillas de Mexico to wet your whistle or get a great meal at a nice price.
